ABOUT ME
Originally from the beautiful city of Reconquista in Santa Fe, Argentina, where I have wonderful memories. I have lived most of my life in Rosario, considering myself "Rosarina" by choice.
Graduated in Graphic Design, Illustration and Visual Communication, with more than ten years of experience in the area. My creations have been published in various products and advertising campaigns, both nationally and internationally.
I have trained myself in a self-taught way in the world of Visual Arts, a universe that amazes me more and more every day. In addition to working with ceramics, drawing, collage, screen printing and photography that I am so passionate about.
Since 2019 I have dedicated myself exclusively to art, working independently at GAB'S VISUAL ARTIST, where I design and produce unique and special pieces, designed both for everyday use and for home decoration or a particular space. I develop each piece and work of art in such a way that it is unique and stands out on its own, free of any trend.
I currently reside and work in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain.
MY WORK
In my works I express the events that move me, that go through my body and mind. Through painting I reveal my experiences, while the sensations take their shape. They have incorporated motifs, thus becoming a kind of confessional manifesto, a space where everything could be told.
In them I find a way to visualize my intimate universe, at the same time autobiographical. Sensations that are born from the loneliness of being individual beings and the relationship that is generated between our universes. In this way, open to all possibilities, and beyond the iconography that emerges, I arrange my works as love objects.
ABSTRACT UNIVERSE
Although we are talking about a multifaceted artist, painter, ceramist, graphic designer and photographer among others, we cannot take the focus off her paintings, which, although at first glance we can see color stains, glazes, combinations of techniques, lines of various thicknesses, everything would indicate that the work is born at the same moment that the artist puts her brush on the frame. This artist leaves nothing to chance, each of her works contain shapes and colors specially thought out and previously tested in a personal log.
Her log contains the previous combinations and even sketches of what will later form part of her works on a larger scale, harmonious and in some cases chaotic combinations, always achieving a pause in the viewer - or at least in me - to observe that world in which the artist inhabited at that moment.
“My goal in each work is to create an atmosphere that feels familiar and alien. Something magical that we recognize, but that is beyond our physical experience. (...)” - Gabriela Rodríguez, 2020.
Each element can be translated -or not- rain, clouds, weather, stars, roads, etc. an abstraction that contains shapes that create a figurative image for us, something that, as the artist says, is familiar to us, that is, we unconsciously transform its organic and abstract shapes into a highly subjective “what”.
Those of us who knew more closely the intimacy of GAB'S can realize that his artistic production is linked to his personal search, to escape to a better world. It is no coincidence that today her work is moving to Barcelona, a city that she, a native Argentine, has long longed to reside in.
Having created part of her paintings in Argentina, and producing her next exhibition in Barcelona, Gabriela is looking for an end to a cycle and at the same time a new beginning, where her yesterday of nights on the balcony of her apartment contemplating the Paraná River, finds her in a dream present, and where she wishes that new worlds continue to surprise her in this new beginning.
